The Sanitas Story

Creating Sanitas Journey, LLC has been quite the process for me, and when it did finally unfold in May of 2021, it did so somewhat unexpectedly and rather "suddenly." I have contemplated starting my own practice for several years, but there were always a variety of barriers that stopped me from pressing forward.

I tend to be an "out of the box" thinker, and I struggle to conform to systems that don't make sense to me or don't seem to really serve people and their needs. Throughout my life, including my career path, I have often been viewed by others as somewhat of a rebel or "going against the grain." As Sanitas has unfolded and continues to grow....What I have come to conclude about this part of my journey is this... I deeply desire to serve and care for others in ways that are helpful and meaningful to THEM. I'm a systemic thinker, and so when a particular system is directly or indirectly affecting individuals in a negative or non-effective way.... I get frustrated and disenchanted, because I want better for people. I think systems get stuck easily and people just start going along with things because "that's just the way it is done". I really despise this. I despise it, ultimately, because getting stuck hurts people, and I don't want people to hurt when the hurt is unnecessary.

In the initial creation of Sanitas Journey, I was simply using the resources that I had. The core purpose of Sanitas is not about what services we offer, but rather, about what services are needed, finding ways to meet those needs, and using Sanitas as a platform to provide those needs. Being a licensed clinician allows me to provide a variety of mental health services, but it has also connected me to other professionals with additional resources, and I suspect it will continue to do so.

So, just like each of us, Sanitas is a journey in process. At this moment in time it has a particular look to it, but undoubtedly, it will look different in 6 months and likely VERY different a year from now. Whether you are a client or a professional who has come across Sanitas Journey, know that you are leaving your footprints as this journey unfolds. Know that your contribution to Sanitas Journey is cherished and valued!
